“Yes!” I called out as I received the invitation to Peter’s birthday party. Shaun, who was the most mischievous person in class, said to me “This is going to be fun! Perhaps I should do something …” After Shaun went off, another friend, Edwin told me “Something’s not right …what is he going to do?”
When I finally reached the condominium clubhouse, I immediately
. I was eager to see all of my friends whom I did not see during the holidays, I also wanted to catch up with them about what everyone had been doing over the past few weeks.
After four floors of climbing (there was no lift), I finally got up to the top floor panting heavily. I was welcomed warmly by all of my other friends, especially the birthday boy, Peter. I quickly passed him his birthday present.
Soon after that, we decided to eat the food prepared by the barbecue. Halfway through the meal, some of the other boys who hade gobbled down their food quickly decided to go to one corner to talk about something. Feeling something amidst, I sneaked up to a place where I was not seen and listened to their conversation. "Come on guys, lets
throw water bombs at Shaun from a side when he cuts the cake." Shaun persauded others. As I was a friend of Shaun and I treasured him a lot, I thought of letting it go. However, as Peter was my best friend since Primary two, I did not want to betray him either. I thought: Either way I would lose one of my longest friendships. What should I do?
I was torn between two sides. One side of me said that I should have some fun and allow them to do the water balloon trick. The other side said that I should be a good friend and allow Peter to know what was happening.
In theend, I decided to end my friendship with Shaun and help Peter.
I immediately told peter the trick and Peter alerted his mother. She decided that herself and I would help by taking two plastic banners and holding them as plastic was resistant to water, it also did not attract any attention, as it was a birthday. We hoped that it would protect Peter from the water bombs. When Peter was cutting the birthday cake, the Shaun snuck up while the others distracted and launched water bombs at him.
